Privacy Policy

Effective date: 5 November 2026 · Version 2026-11-05.2

This policy is the notice required by section 11 of the Privacy Protection Law, 5741-1981 (as amended by Amendment 13) and, for users to whom it applies, the information required by Articles 13–14 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The short version

  • No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no selling of data, no cross-app tracking and no third-party analytics.
  • You can use weather, NOTAMs, airfields, the handbook, the quiz and the simulator without an account.
  • An account is optional. It stores only what you choose to enter, and you can export or delete it in the app at any time.
  • TAS does not use your location, camera, microphone, contacts or motion sensors.
  • Settings, sign-in and quiz scores stay on your device.

1. Who Is Responsible

The controller of the TAS database is Happy Skies (contact for any privacy matter: tasaerospaceapp@gmail.com).

2. What Stays on Your Device

Your sign-in token, preferences (for example passenger mode), the Terms version you accepted and your quiz scores are stored only on your device (local storage). They are removed when you sign out, clear the app’s data or uninstall it.

3. What Reaches Our Servers, Why, and Whether You Must Provide It

(a) Account: email address, name and password (stored only as a salted one-way hash). Purpose: creating and securing your account. Voluntary; without an account you cannot use reminders, the logbook or saved aircraft data, and everything else still works.

(b) Pilot records you choose to enter: licence, rating, check and medical-certificate dates and validity, medical class, date of birth, English-proficiency level and logbook landing and approach counts. Purpose: calculating expiries and recency and sending the reminders you enable. Voluntary. Medical information may be health information of special sensitivity; it is processed only with your consent and only for this purpose.

(c) Aircraft and performance data you save: registration, empty weight and arm, weighing date, performance-table values and uploaded POH files. Purpose: weight-and-balance and performance calculations; weighing data and table values are shared with other users of the same aircraft or type (see the Terms). Voluntary.

(d) Consent records: the Terms version you accepted, the statements you confirmed, the date and time and your IP address. Purpose: evidence of acceptance. Required to use TAS.

(e) Push token: a device token issued by Apple, Google or Expo, only if you allow notifications. Purpose: delivering expiry reminders.

(f) Server logs: IP address, time, requested address and device or browser type. Purpose: operating, securing and troubleshooting TAS.

4. Lookups and Third Parties Your Device Contacts

(a) Weather, NOTAM, aerodrome and aircraft-register data are fetched by our servers from the public sources listed in the Terms; your personal data is not sent to them. When you look up a registration, it is sent to our server, which queries the public aircraft register.

(b) Aircraft photographs are loaded by your device directly from Planespotters.net, which therefore receives your IP address under its own privacy policy.

(c) TAS loads fonts and app code from its own servers and from the app stores only. The website uses no tracking cookies and no third-party analytics; only strictly necessary storage is used, so no cookie banner is required. Global Privacy Control signals are respected by default because no tracking takes place.

5. Notifications and Messages

Reminders are service messages about the dates you entered. We do not send advertising within the meaning of section 30A of the Communications (Telecommunications and Broadcasting) Law, 5742-1982, without your prior express consent. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

6. Who Receives Data

We do not sell or rent personal data. We disclose it only to: (a) our hosting and infrastructure providers, which process it on our behalf under written agreements as required by regulation 15 of the Data Security Regulations; (b) push-notification providers (Expo, Apple Push Notification service, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging); (c) other users, limited to the shared aircraft data described above; (d) professional advisers bound by confidentiality; and (e) authorities or courts where the law requires it or to protect safety, rights or property.

7. Transfers Outside Israel

Some providers may store or process data outside Israel, for example in the European Union or the United States. Such transfers are made under the Privacy Protection (Transfer of Data to Databases Abroad) Regulations, 5761-2001, including by obtaining the recipient’s undertaking to comply with the conditions that apply to the data under Israeli law, and for EU users under appropriate GDPR safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Legal Bases (EU/EEA/UK Users)

Performance of our agreement with you (account and features you request); consent (medical information, notifications), which you may withdraw at any time; legitimate interests (security, troubleshooting, protecting TAS); and legal obligations (consent records, responding to authorities).

9. Retention

Account and pilot data: while your account exists; deleted when you delete your account in the app, or within 30 days of a written request. Consent records: kept with a pseudonymous user number for as long as needed to establish or defend legal claims. Server logs: up to 90 days. Support emails: up to 12 months after the matter is closed. Shared aircraft data: while other users rely on it, without your attribution after you delete your account.

10. Security

We protect data in line with the Privacy Protection (Data Security) Regulations, 5777-2017, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), salted password hashing, access restricted to authorised personnel, separated services and incident documentation. No system is perfectly secure; we will handle and report serious incidents as the law requires.

11. Your Rights

(a) You may inspect the data we hold about you (section 13 of the Privacy Protection Law), ask us to correct or delete data that is wrong, incomplete, unclear or out of date (section 14), and withdraw consent for voluntary data. In the app, Pilot tab: "Export my data" shows everything held about you and "Delete my account" erases your account and pilot data.

(b) If the GDPR applies to you, you also have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and you may complain to your supervisory authority.

(c) For any request write to tasaerospaceapp@gmail.com. We answer in Hebrew or English, usually within 30 days. You may also contact the Israeli Privacy Protection Authority.

12. Children

TAS is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. Users aged 16 to 18 need the consent of a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes

We will announce material changes in TAS and ask for your consent again where required. Earlier versions are available on request.

14. Translations and Contact

If a translation differs, the English version prevails unless the law requires otherwise. Contact: Happy Skies · tasaerospaceapp@gmail.com.
